Oilers sign GrebeshkovEdmonton, AB (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenseman Denis Grebeshkov to a one-year contract. Financial details were not disclosed. Grebeshkov notched three goals and 15 assists for 18 points in 71 games last season, his first with the Oilers. He was fourth on the team with a plus-two rating.
The Oilers obtained the 24-year-old native of Russia from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron and a third-round
pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft on February 18, 2007. In 104 career NHL games with the Oilers, Islanders and Los Angeles Kings, Grebeshkov has three goals with 21 assists for 24 points. He was selected by the Kings with the 18th overall choice of the 2002 draft.
