Panthers pay a visit to Predators

(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators will try to stay on the winning track this evening against the Florida Panthers at Sommet Center.

The Predators ended a six-game losing streak with Thursday's 3-0 home win over the Atlanta Thrashers. Nashville goaltender Dan Ellis made 20 saves for his first-career shutout in only his second-career start.

Jordin Tootoo had a two-point night with a goal and an assist, while David Legwand assisted on a pair of goals for the Predators. Jerred Smithson and Scott Nichol also scored in the winning effort.

Florida has lost three of its last four games, including Friday's 4-2 setback to the Buffalo Sabres at BankAtlantic Center.

Jozef Stumpel and Ville Peltonen scored for the Panthers, who have dropped three of four. Panthers goaltender Tomas Vokoun allowed four goals on 33 shots in defeat.

Vokoun will make his first appearance in Nashville since being traded. He went 161-159-11 with 35 ties and a 2.95 goals-against average for Nashville.

Florida won the last meeting by a 7-3 score on December 13 of the 2005-06 season, snapping a five-game series winless streak.

The Panthers are 0-1-2 in their last three trips to Nashville.
