Pens ink Fedotenko to one-year deal


Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year contract on Thursday. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fedotenko posted 16 goals and 17 assists in 67 games with the New York Islanders last season, including a team-best and career-high eight power play tallies.

The Kiev, Ukraine native has played in 523 games over seven seasons with the Flyers, Lightning and Islanders, totaling 123 goals and 116 assists. The 6-2, 195-pound wing had a career high 41 points (25 G, 16 A) with the Lightning in 2005-06.

In 2003-04, Fedotenko was a key piece in Tampa Bay's run to the Stanley Cup, tying for the team lead with 12 goals during the playoffs.
