Red Wings sign C Draper to three-year extensionDetroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Red Wings re-signed center Kris Draper to a three-year contract extension Friday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Draper, who has five goals in 10 games this season, has helped the Red Wings to Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998 and 2002.
The 36-year-old center also won the Selke Trophy as the NHL's best
defensive forward in 2003-04, posting 24 goals and 16 assists with five
shorthanded tallies. Draper, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was originally acquired from the Winnipeg Jets for future considerations back in June, 1993. The 17-year veteran has netted 137 goals and 165 assists in 895 games played in his career.
