Senators add depth in net with Auld

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators signed journeyman netminder Alex Auld to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Auld has played in parts of six seasons with Vancouver, Florida, Phoenix and Boston. The 27-year-old split time, appearing in 32 contests, with both Phoenix and Boston last season, posting a 12-13-5 mark with a 2.32 goals against average.

Ottawa filled the void for a backup to entrenched starter Martin Gerber after the club bought out Ray Emrey's contract late last month.

Ottawa general manager drafted Auld while with Florida in 1999, taking the Thunder Bay, Ontario, native in the second round. In 140 career games, Auld has a 58-57-16 mark with two ties and a 2.85 GAA.
