Senators re-sign Donovan and add Ruutu


Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has signed wingers Shean Donovan and Jarkko Ruutu to multi-year contracts.

Donovan, 33, signed a two-year deal to stay with the team for which he scored five goals and 12 points in 2007-2008. In 13 seasons with seven different clubs, Donovan has 105 career goals and 226 points in 856 games. His best offensive season came in 2003-2004 for Calgary when he posted 18 goals and 42 points.

Ruutu, who had spent the past two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins, signed a three-year contract. He tallied six goals and 16 points last season for the Eastern Conference champs, and has 36 goals and 83 points in seven seasons with Pittsburgh and Vancouver.
