Report: Arizona extends Young; D'Backs make trade with Reds

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly agreed to terms with outfielder Chris Young on a six-year contract extension.

The deal, which would keep Young in Arizona through 2013, is expected to be announced Tuesday. The Arizona Republic reports the contract is worth about $28 million and includes a team option for 2014.

The Diamondbacks attempted to work out a long-term deal with Young during spring training, but the sides could not reach an agreement and the 24-year- old's contract was renewed for the 2008 season for around $400,000.

The deal for Young comes after a historic season when he became the first rookie in major league history to hit at least 30 home runs and steal 25 bases in a season. In 148 games, Young batted just .237, but belted 32 homers, drove in 68 runs and stole 27 bases for the National League West champions.

The Diamondbacks also announced Monday they have completed a trade with the Reds. Arizona dealt outfielder Daniel Perales to Cincinnati in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jon Coutlangus.

Coutlangus appeared in 64 games in relief last season for Cincinnati, going 4-2 with a 4.39 ERA. Perales played for Single-A South Bend last season and hit .282 in 136 games, but he's starting this season on the disabled list.
