Sundin, Thomas, Knuble selected as NHL's Three StarsNew York, NY (Sports Network) - Toronto Maple Leafs center Mats Sundin, Boston goaltender Tim Thomas and Philadelphia right wing Mike Knuble have been selected as the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending March 2. Sundin, who decided against waiving his no-trade clause to stay in Toronto, picked up the First Star as he notched four goals and four assists to help the Leafs post a record of 3-0-1 last week. He also increased his goals total to 552, surpassing Michel Goulet and Ron Francis for 22nd place on the NHL's all- time list.
Thomas posted a record of 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 0.97, a .962
save percentage and one shutout to earn the Second Star. He stopped 22 shots
in a 4-0 victory over Ottawa on February 26, recording his sixth career
shutout, then surrendered just one goal against the high-powered Pittsburgh Penguins and earned a shootout win against Atlanta. Knuble garnered Third Star honors with three goals and five assists in four games, as Philadelphia went 3-0-1.
