Team USA routs Norway at Worlds

Halifax, Nova Scotia (Sports Network) - Brandon Dubinsky registered a hat trick and Dustin Brown added two goals with an assist to power the United States to a 9-1 rout of Norway in the finale of the qualifying round of the 2008 World Hockey Championship.

The Americans rebounded from a contentious 3-2 loss to Finland on Sunday and wrapped up third place in Group F. They will face the loser of Monday's game between Canada and Finland in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Dubinsky scored once in each period for the Americans, who opened a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Zach Parise, Phil Kessel and Patrick Kane also scored in the victory, while Robert Esche made 17 saves.

Norway can only advance to the quarterfinals if Germany earns a regulation win against Latvia later Monday.

Russia finished first in Group E with a 5-3 victory over Switzerland in Quebec City. Maxim Sushinskiy scored a pair of goals for the Russians, while Alex Ovechkin, Sergei Fedorov and Dmitri Kalinin also tallied in the victory.

The Russians will face the Swiss again on Wednesday in quarterfinal play, while the other quarterfinal from Group E will pit Sweden against the Czech Republic.
