Wild acquire Zidlicky from NashvilleSt. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman Marek Zidlicky from the Nashville Predators on Tuesday in exchange for prospect Ryan Jones and a 2009 second-round draft pick. Zidlicky, 31, tallied five goals and 38 assists in 43 games with Nashville last season.
"Marek is a top offensive puck-moving defenseman who will add tempo to our
lineup," said Wild general manager Doug Risebrough. "He will complement a
defense that is becoming more mobile and skilled, which we anticipate will
make our team as a whole more offensive." The native of the Czech Republic recorded 35 goals and 175 points in 307 games over four seasons, all with the Preds. Jones was a fourth-round pick of the Wild in 2004 from Miami-Ohio. He appeared in four regular-season and four playoff games for the AHL's Houston Aeros following the completion of his college career.
