Mohawk to host North America Cup on Saturday for first time

Campbellville, Canada (Sports Network) - Ten three-year-old pacers have been entered for Saturday's $1.5 million North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack. Mohawk is hosting the 24th North America Cup for the first time.

The three elimination winners from last week are the favorites for the one- mile pace. The top three from each elimination race advanced along with one of the fourth place finishers.

The 2-1 morning-line favorite is Yankee Skyscaper. The pacer will start from post two with driver George Brennan. Yankee Skyscaper is trained by Chris Ryder for owner Yankee Skyscaper Partners. This year Yankee Skyscaper has won two of four starts for $163,032. Overall he has earned $762,305.

The 3-1 second choice is Tell All with driver Jody Jamieson. The pair will break from post three for owner MY Desire Stable and trainer Blair Burgess.

"I think he's got a great shot," said Jamieson. "Obviously, I'm going to try to work out a perfect trip, but if it doesn't work out, I think he's still a good enough horse to overcome that. He can close like any good horse ever has."

Tell All has earned $107,505 this year with five wins in 10 starts.

Sutter Hanover, undefeated this year, is the 7-2 third pick in the program. Dave Miller will drive the colt from post four. Sutter Hanover, trained by Mark Harder, has won all three starts in 2007 for $80,443.

"He's one of the only ones in the race who has been able to move three or four times in a race and still be able to hold on," said assistant trainer Scott Petherick. "So, he's really, to me, the horse to beat. The four-hole was Dave Miller's choice. He's been raced on the front end and that's really not his type of race. He can do it but he's better off stalking them."

Here is the complete field for the North America Cup in post position order: Two Twentytwo, Roger Mayotte 20-1; Yankee Skyscaper, George Brennan 2-1; Tell All, Jody Jamieson 3-1; Sutter Hanover, David Miller 7-2; Domitian Hanover, Mark MacDonald 20-1; Watta Hotshot, Jack Moiseyev 20-1; Glass Pack, Luc Ouellette 20-1; Kenneth J, Brian Sears 5-1; Reserve Forces, Andy Miller - 25-1; Artriverderci, John Campbell 10-1.

The $1.5 million North America Cup, previously run at Woodbine, has a scheduled post-time of 9:40 p.m. (et).
