More track problems at Santa AnitaArcadia, CA (Sports Network) - Racing at Santa Anita Park needed to be cancelled on Thursday after the synthetic track was deemed unsafe. The all- weather Cushion Track did not drain properly due to heavy rain overnight on Wednesday. This is the second time the track has cancelled racing because of improper drainage. On January 5-7 Santa Anita was forced to cancel its programs. On Saturday the track is scheduled to host the sixth annual Sunshine Millions stakes races for California and Florida-bred horses. The status of racing at Santa Anita is day-to-day with rain forecast through the weekend.
