Racing cancelled at Santa Anita againArcadia, CA (Sports Network) - For a third straight day Santa Anita Park has cancelled its program due to unsafe track conditions. The track's Cushion Track has not been draining properly, forcing management to cancel racing Saturday, Sunday and Monday. More than five inches of rain fell over the weekend creating an unsafe situation for jockeys and horses. The track will be open for simulcast wagering and the sand-based training track will remain open for training. Moving the Santa Anita meet to Hollywood Park, which also has a Cushion Track surface, is a possibility. California Horse Racing Board has scheduled a teleconference meeting for Tuesday to deal with moving any or all of Santa Anita's dates to the Inglewood racetrack. Racing at Santa Anita is expected to resume Thursday.
