Alvarez re-signs with FC DallasFrisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas re-signed midfielder Arturo Alvarez on Wednesday. Alvarez, who is currently training with the United States Olympic team, played in 36 of Dallas' 39 games last season. He had eight goals and four assists.
"We are delighted that Arturo has re-signed with FC Dallas, given that he was
out of contract and had other options," FC Dallas coach Steve Morrow said. "He
had a big year in 2007, and began to show his true potential. We believe he'll
have an important role to play in the future." Alvarez, 22, joined MLS as a 17-year-old when he was picked by San Jose in the second round (13th overall) of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft. After two seasons with San Jose, he was traded to Dallas. Per team and league policy, terms of the new deal were not released. The MLS season starts in late March.
