Atletico sets sights on Valencia's Silva

Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) - Atletico Madrid are on the trail of Valencia's highly-rated Spain international David Silva.

The 22-year-old winger has been linked with a move away from the Mestalla after his eye-catching form during Spain's successful Euro 2008 campaign.

Several clubs in England, including Arsenal and Liverpool, are believed to be interested in landing Silva, but Atletico president Enrique Cerezo is hoping to persuade him to move to the Vicente Calderon.

"Silva is a player who interests us because he has plenty of quality and every good player interests Atletico," he told Marca.

"It's true that we are greatly interested in him and that we will try to negotiate with Valencia so that he can be an Atletico player.

"I don't know what Valencia are asking for but as yet we have not made an offer."
