Beckham double leads Galaxy to comeback draw at RSL

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer action on Saturday night.

After going down by two inside 18 minutes, Beckham responded by scoring two goals four minutes apart minutes before the first half break.

With the draw, the Galaxy (2-2-2) remain in second place in the Western table while RSL (1-3-2) is third from the bottom.

The home side jumped out to a lead in the sixth minute after Fabian Espindola scored his second goal of the season after collecting a feed from Javier Morales.

Morales fed Kenny Deuchar 12 minutes later to give the home side what looked to be a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Galaxy began their comeback in the 36th minute , however, when Beckham pulled one back. After receiving a pass from Alan Gordan, the English international bent a kick into the far post side netting from about 35 yards out.

Four minutes later Beckham struck again on a free kick from the top of the RSL penalty area from about 25-yards out. He fired a perfect shot over the defensive wall that bent just out of the reach of goalkeeper Nick Rimando and into the net for his third goal of the season.

Both defenses tightened up in the second half, with Rimando's denial of a Landon Donovan header from the doorstep in the 73rd minute being the best chance by either team to earn the win.

The Galaxy will look for a positive result when they host New York in their next league fixture next Saturday while RSL hosts Dallas earlier the same day.
