Casey's equalizer forces Hoops to share points with Rapids

Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Herculez Gomez got things going early, scoring his second goal of the season from about 15 yards out to give the Rapids the lead in the fifth minute.

That was how the score stayed until the Hoops (4-6-7) scored two second-half goals to take a 2-1 lead.

In 47th minute, Dallas forward Dominic Oduro earned a penalty kick after being taken down in the box with Rapids goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul way out of the net. Kenny Cooper took the chance and buried it in the right side of the net for his ninth goal of the season to tie the game at one.

Cooper helped set up the game's next goal in the 64th minute when he headed a Marcelo Saragosa cross back to the top of the box to Juan Toja, who fired into the open net with Coundoul, once again, way off his line and out of position.

The Rapids answered quickly, however, as Conor Casey headed home a Christian Gomez cross three minutes later to tie the game at two, which is how it ended.

The Rapids (6-8-3) host Columbus o July 27 in their next league fixture while Dallas hosts the Los Angeles Galaxy earlier the same day.
