Chiellini signs two-year extension with Juve

Turin, Italy (Sports Network) - Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has extended his contract with Juventus for a further two years.

The 23-year-old made 30 Serie A appearances for the Turin club last season and stepped into the starting line-up at Euro 2008 after the Azzurri's opening 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands.

"This is a starting point for me," said Chiellini. "We are probably not among the favorites for the title yet, but we will definitely try to win the Scudetto."

Chiellini joined Juventus from Livorno in 2005 and spent a season with Fiorentina before making his first appearance for the Bianconeri 12 months later.
