Columbus signs draft pick to developmental deal

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Crew signed Cory Elenio, a second- round pick in the 2008 supplemental draft, to a developmental contract Friday.

Elenio, a forward/midfielder, trained with Columbus in the preseason and played in the clubs Reserve Division games at D.C. United and Toronto FC. He recently began regular training with the team after completing college at Evansville.

Elenio, 21, finished college with 18 goals and 19 assists. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
