Crew waive midfielder Hernandez

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Prior to their Major League Soccer fixture with the Colorado Rapids at Crew Stadium on Saturday, the Columbus Crew announced that they have waived Argentine midfielder Nicolas Hernandez.

The 29-year-old Hernandez, who was in his first season with the Crew after being acquired from Colorado on Feb. 28, played in five league matches this season, including one start. He also appeared in five Reserve Division matches. Overall, he has registered eight goals and seven assists in 56 MLS games over the course of his three-year career.
