Croatia fined for racist behavior


Vienna, Austria (Sports Network) - The Croatian Football Federation has been fined by UEFA following the racist behavior of their fans during their quarterfinal defeat against Turkey on June 20.

Turkey won the encounter 3-1 on penalties in Vienna after a dramatic last- eight tie was taken to extra-time following a 1-1 stalemate.

But Croatia have been fined almost $20,000) for the behavior of their supporters inside the Ernst Happel Stadion.

"Croatian fans were guilty of displaying a racist banner and showing racist conduct at the match," read a UEFA statement.
