D.C. United signs Curtin, Zaher

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United signed defenders Jeff Curtin and Mike Zaher to developmental contracts Thursday.

Curtin was obtained in the Major League Soccer Waiver Draft, while Zaher was acquired from Toronto FC on April 3 in exchange for a first-round selection in the 2009 MLS Supplemental Draft.

Per team and MLS policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Curtin, 24, was originally drafted by the Chicago Fire in the second round (14th overall) of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft.

Zaher was originally selected by Toronto FC in the third round (30th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

Curtin and Zaher will not be available for Thursday's game against Columbus, but are eligible to play for United's reserves Friday.
