Davis seals Rangers switchGlasgow, Scotland (Sports Network) - Rangers has completed the signing of Northern Ireland midfielder Steven Davis from Fulham on a four-year contract. Davis, 23, spent the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox after struggling to hold down a starting place in his first season with Fulham.
His permanent move to the Glasgow club looked to have fallen through in July
when the two clubs failed to agree a fee for the former Aston Villa midfielder. But Gers boss Walter Smith refused to give up on Davis and resurrected the deal over the weekend after agreeing a fee believed to be around $6 million with the London club. Speaking on Saturday, Smith said: "We have reached agreement with Fulham and we still have one or two things to settle with the player and his representatives, but we are hopeful that one will go through. "That should happen in the next couple of days." Meanwhile, Rangers will hear on Friday whether prospective $5 million signing Maurice Edu will be granted a work permit to complete his transfer from Toronto FC of Major League Soccer.
