Dynamo move to 2nd in West with win at Chicago

Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - After starting the Major League Soccer season on shaky ground, the back-to-back defending champion Houston Dynamo have rattled off two straight victories - the latest being a 2-1 contest at the Chicago Fire on Saturday night - to move into the second spot in the Western Conference table.

The Dynamo, who have struggled to score goals all season, got two against the league's stingiest defense in the victory. Ricardo Clark and Bobby Boswell scored their first goals of the season on each side of the half to lead the defending champs to their second victory of the season after they started 0-2-3.

Midfielder Clark got things going in the 17th minute when his long range blast skipped off two players before finding the back of the net behind Chicago goalkeeper Jon Busch.

The Fire (5-2-1), who came into the game on a three-game winning streak, equalized 11 minutes later when Calen Carr headed a Cuauhtemoc Blanco free kick past Pat Onstad.

With the game looking like it was going to end in a draw, Houston got the chance it was looking for when it was awarded a free kick in the offensive third in the 82nd minute. Defender Boswell knocked in Richard Mulrooney's service for the game winner, his first goal in a Dynamo uniform after coming over in trade from D.C. United in the offseason.

Houston will look to build on its three-game unbeaten streak when it travels to San Jose on Thursday while Chicago will look to rebound in its next league fixture at New York on May 25.
