England's Ferdinand returns to trainingLondon, England (Sports Network) - Rio Ferdinand will travel to Croatia with the rest of the England squad for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier after returning to training on Monday. The Manchester United defender missed Saturday's 2-0 victory over Andorra in Barcelona with a back injury.
However, coach Fabio Capello suggested the defender would be fit for the trip
to Zagreb and Ferdinand returned to training on Monday at England's Spanish
training base. The 29-year-old now seems likely to return alongside captain John Terry in the center of defense in place of Everton's Joleon Lescott. Meanwhile, Capello has admitted he is undecided about whether to recall Joe Cole to his starting lineup to face Croatia despite his two-goal cameo appearance against Andorra. The Chelsea midfielder has not started an England game since the friendly defeat to France in March, but made a dramatic impact following his halftime arrival in Saturday's opening World Cup qualifier.
