FC Porto crushes Amadora to clinch third straight title

Lisbon, Portugal (Sports Network) - FC Porto secured its third consecutive league title with a 6-0 pounding of Amadora on Saturday.

The win moves Porto 18 points clear of second-place Guimaraes with five games remaining, while Benfica is one point back of Guimaraes in the battle for second place.

It took Porto just nine minutes to go in front when a Lisandro Lopez cross was tapped home by Lucho Gonzalez.

The home side doubled its lead two minutes later as Ricardo Quaresma found Tarik Sektioui with a cross and he knocked it into the back of the net to send Porto into halftime with a two-goal lead.

The result was put out of reach in the 65th minute when Quaresma scored to make it 3-0 and start a goal-scoring barrage.

Amadora's Mauricio scored an own goal five minutes later, and Bruno Alves added a fifth tally in the 78th minute.

Lopez capped the scoring two minutes from time when he bagged his 20th goal of the campaign to seal Porto's biggest win of the season.

The club celebrated their title at the final whistle, but there is still a chance that they will be hit with a six-point deduction by the Portuguese League's disciplinary committee for match fixing.
