Fulham signs Kallio to two-year contractLondon, England (Sports Network) - Fulham has handed a new two-year contract to Finland defender Toni Kallio, who joined the club on loan in January. The 29-year-old, who can play in central defense or at left back, moved to England from Swiss club Young Boys, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the Cottagers as they avoided relegation from the Premier League.
However, Kallio has still done enough to earn a longer stay at Craven Cottage. Meanwhile, Rangers say they have not given up on signing Cottagers midfielder Steven Davis, who impressed while on loan at Ibrox last season. Fulham are holding out for nearly $8 million for the Northern Ireland international and Gers boss Walter Smith still hopes that a deal can be reached. "We have been in discussions with Fulham and that's where the situation rests at the present moment," he told the Daily Record. "We have expressed an interest in taking Steven and hopefully there will be ongoing talks within the next few weeks." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
