Galaxy's Jazic out 4-6 months after surgery

Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Los Angeles defender Ante Jazic is expected to miss 4-6 months after having ankle surgery, the Galaxy announced Thursday.

Jazic, 31, had surgery last month on his right ankle to repair cartilage and will be out until May and possibly until July, meaning he may miss the first few months of the season.

Jazic played in 18 games, including 16 starts, for Los Angeles last season. He missed more than a month after suffering an ankle injury on Aug. 18 and missed time while with Canada at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Jazic has appeared in 29 regular games since joining the Galaxy in 2006. He is a veteran of Austrian, Croatian and Russian soccer.

The Galaxy also announced defender Troy Roberts had a hernia operation, but he is expected to be ready when preseason training starts next month. The season starts the last weekend in March.
