Heerenveen slows NAC behind Sulejmani

Heerenveen, Netherlands (Sports Network) - Miralem Sulejmani scored two goals to help Heerenveen down NAC 3-0 on Saturday at Abe Lenstra Stadion in a battle of top-five teams.

NAC entered the match as the hottest team in the Eredivisie, having won 10 of its last 11 games, but the visitors fell behind 2-0 at halftime after goals from Michael Bradley and Sulejmani and they were unable to recover.

Sulejmani then scored his second goal of the game in the 78th minute to move Heerenveen to within two points of NAC.

Groningen rallied for a 2-1 win at Willem II on Saturday as a Frank Van Der Struijk penalty kick in the first half put the hosts in front before Groningen scored two goals in the final 10 minutes. Thomas Baelum scored an own goal to level the match in the 82nd minute and Sepp De Roover bagged the game-winner two minutes later.

Brett Holman tallied a pair of goals to lead NEC to a 3-1 victory against Graafschap, while Juan Lorca's goal in the 86th minute gave Vitesse a 2-1 win at Excelsior.
