Irate Sorensen slams Villa manager O'NeillStoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Former Denmark international Thomas Sorensen has launched a furious tirade at Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill, who he has accused of trying to destroy his football career. The 32-year-old Stoke City goalkeeper says O'Neill dropped him from the Villa first team and then refused to let him join any other club.
Sorensen made 139 Premier League starts for Villa following his $3.8 million
transfer from Sunderland in August 2003, but was frozen out of the first-team
picture last season. "It stayed personal for him (O'Neill) and had nothing to do with football," Sorensen told the Daily Mirror. "This summer it was so crazy and insane that I suddenly realized my manager could destroy my career. "He said to me and two others that he didn't use me because I just wasn't good enough but at the same time he didn't want to let me go to another club. "He must really have had a downer on me, because why would he effectively destroy my chances for me to change clubs?" (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
