KiXX take Susi No. 1 in MISL expansion draftWestport, CT (Sports Network) - The defending Major Indoor Soccer League champion Philadelphia KiXX, who acquired Monterrey's first four picks in the expansion draft, selected forward Aaron Susi from the California Cougars with the No. 1 overall selection Monday. The MISL runner-up Detroit Ignition acquired the No. 2 overall pick from the expansion New Jersey Ironmen and selected defender Chad Dombrowski from the Milwaukee Wave.
The Orlando Sharks were the first expansion club to pick, selecting midfielder
Jonathan Steele from the Baltimore Blast with the third and final pick in the
first round. Orlando was the only expansion club which didn't trade any of its
picks in the 10-round draft. Players selected in the 2007 MISL College Draft were excluded from the expansion draft. Current MISL teams could lose a maximum of five players during the expansion draft. Once a player was selected from an existing team, the club was allowed to return two unprotected players to its roster. Baltimore, California, Detroit, Milwaukee and Philadelphia each lost the maximum of five players. Baltimore lost its five players the fastest, with the fifth and final player being picked in the seventh round. Only Chicago didn't have five players selected because Monterrey passed on its pick in the 10th round. Monterrey, New Jersey and Orlando will join the MISL for the 2007-08 season.
