Liverpool finalizes deal for Dossena

Liverpool, England (Sports Network) - Liverpool has finalized the signing of Italian left back Andrea Dossena from Udinese on a four-year contract.

The 26-year-old is the second new arrival at Anfield this summer, following Philipp Degen's switch from Borussia Dortmund, with Dossena's signing compensating for John Arne Riise's recent exit to AS Roma.

Dossena, who had been with Udine for three seasons, spoke of his excitement about the possibility a move to the Premier League earlier this summer.

"Liverpool are a famous team and it's good to be linked with them," he said. "I want to play in the Champions League and Liverpool are a side that have won it and reach the latter stages often.

"They are one of the famous names in Europe, comparable with the biggest teams in Italy. In England I think Liverpool are Manchester United's equal, they can rival them."
