Luhukay sacked by Monchengladbach

Monchengladbach, Germany (Sports Network) - Borussia Monchengladbach have sacked coach Jos Luhukay following a poor start to the new season.

Luhukay's side have lost six of their seven Bundesliga games this term, with the final straw for the club hierarchy a 2-1 home defeat by Koln on Saturday.

A statement from club president Rolf Konigs read: "The sporting management and the club management discussed the situation in detail on Saturday evening and Sunday.

"We have come to the decision that we will continue without Jos Luhukay. Jos Luhukay is the coach who got us promoted and he has our thanks and our respect.

"We value him very highly personally and professionally, but nevertheless the current sporting situation has forced us to split from him."
