Manchester United plans tour of South Africa

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Manchester United is expected to field a nearly full squad on a tour South Africa in July, the team said Thursday.

Manchester United will be in South Africa from July 19-26, with full details to be announced next month by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United last visited South Africa in 2006.

"We really enjoyed our visit in 2006," Ferguson said. "The atmosphere in all the stadiums and the enthusiasm from the fans helped make for a great trip. All the facilities were first class and I am looking forward to returning."

Manchester United (15-3-3), which is second in the Premiership behind Arsenal, hosts Newcastle on Saturday.
