McClaren named coach of Dutch club TwenteAmsterdam, Netherlands (Sports Network) - FC Twente named former England coach Steve McClaren its new coach Friday. McClaren, 47, was fired as England's coach after the country failed to make the finals of Euro 2008. He signed a two-year contract with the Dutch club.
Former Twente coach Fred Rutten helped the club reach the preliminary rounds of
the Champions League before departing to take over Schalke in Germany. Twente
beat Ajax in the Dutch playoffs to reach the Champions League.
