Morelia, Cruz Azul advance to quarterfinals

Mexico City, Mexico (Sports Network) - Morelia dropped the second leg of its series against America on Sunday, 1-0, but still advanced on aggregate, 3-1, to join Cruz Azul in the Mexican Apertura quarterfinals.

Morelia hosts Santos on Thursday in the opening leg of the two-game, aggregate quarterfinal series. The second leg is Sunday at Santos.

Cruz Azul eliminated Clausura champion Pachuca to advance and plays Atlante in the quarterfinals. Cruz Azul hosts the first game Wednesday and visits Atlante on Saturday.

In the other quarterfinals, San Luis hosts Guadalajara on Wednesday and visits Guadalajara on Saturday, and Pumas hosts Toluca on Thursday and visits Toluca on Sunday.

Santos, Atlante, San Luis, Guadalajara, Pumas and Toluca all secured berths in the quarterfinals by finishing in the top two spots in their respective groups during the regular season.
