Motherwell signs Malcolm to new one-year deal

Motherwell, Scotland (Sports Network) - Motherwell defender Bob Malcolm has agreed to a new one-year contract to remain at Fir Park.

The 27-year-old joined the Steelmen on a short-term deal in January but was out of contract this summer.

The former Rangers and Derby County player rejected offers from clubs in England and the United States to stay with the Lanarkshire side.

Speaking last month, Motherwell boss Mark McGhee had suggested he thought the versatile defender might leave.

"Bob said that for the next couple of weeks he would like to keep his options open and see what's out there - he doesn't want to rush anything," he said.

"I have given him until the start of preseason training, which is July 3, before we have to look elsewhere."
