New Valencia coach ready for challenge

Valencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Newly-installed Valencia coach Unai Emery has vowed to try and get the club back on track after a traumatic campaign for Los Che.

The 36-year-old has signed a two-year contract at the Mestalla, having made his name with Almeria.

"I am going to fight for unity, with the board, coaches, team, fans and media," he told reporters after his appointment. "Valencia have taken two steps back this season, but we want to recover and take a step forward, if possible.

"I have not been a coach for long, but I have always tried to learn a lot and worked hard.

"I promise that I am going to dedicate time, sweat and I hope that we cry tears of joy for the objectives we complete.

"I am sure we are going to be a competitive team, because the essence of Valencia will remain even if one, two, three or four players go."
