Ngwenya reportedly signs with SK Austria KarntenHouston, TX (Sports Network) - According to numerous reports, Joseph Ngwenya is the latest Major League Soccer player to try his luck oversees. It has been confirmed on the SK Austria Karnten web-site that the Houston Dynamo forward signed with the European club for the remainder of the season, which runs through April. The contract also comes with an option for the 2008-09 season, the team said.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Ngwenya's agent Patrick McCabe confirmed
the signing to the Dynamo late Monday. "We've been aware of (Ngwenya's) desire to explore his options in Europe," Dynamo president Oliver Luck told the Chronicle. "Some players really believe Europe is the place to be." The news is not welcome to the Dynamo, who open camp in less than two weeks in preparation for the CONCACAF Champions Cup and the 2008 MLS season. Ngwenya's departure leaves the Dynamo thin at forward with fellow forward Nate Jaqua also reportedly seeking employment in Austria. The two combined for 13 goals with the Dynamo last season.
