PSV hoping to take celebration on the road

Arnhem, Netherlands (Sports Network) - The Eredivisie title will be decided on the final day of the season, with PSV Eindhoven needing just one point at Vitesse to secure a fourth consecutive title.

PSV missed out on a chance to clinch the title at home last Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 by Twente at Philipsstadion.

Celebrations were planned prior to the match, and PSV manager Sef Vergoossen feels as though his side was very anxious to win, and that it may have hurt the club's performance.

"We desperately wanted to win," Vergoossen said. "We came close to scoring the opening goal a few times in the first half, but were unlucky. "Conceding the opening goal was a setback, though. We needed some time to recover and were forced to take risks in order to get back on level terms."

PSV will be hoping to be in control from the start on Sunday, as Vitesse does not have a lot of incentive because they are stuck in the middle of the table.

Ajax has to hope that Vitesse comes to play on Sunday because they will be able to steal the title with a win against Heracles and a PSV loss. Ajax kept its hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Groningen on Wednesday, but they will be coming up against a Heracles team that is desperate for points as they are two clear of the drop zone.

NAC has already secured a spot in the top five, which means that they will take part in the Champions League qualification playoffs, and they will host an NEC side that is still fighting for a possible spot in Europe.

Twente can also put themselves in the Champions League playoffs with a win against Willem II, while Heerenveen and Feyenoord enter the final day level on 57 points for the final spot. Heerenveen owns the edge in goal differential and can secure the last spot if they beat second-from-the-bottom Excelsior. Feyenoord will host Roda.

Graafschap will hoping to save itself from the bottom three when they travel to last-place Venlo. The club is one point behind Heracles, while Venlo will be hoping to jump over Excelsior and give themselves a chance to avoid being relegated.

Groningen will travel to Utrecht and AZ Alkmaar entertains Sparta to close out the season.
