Rafinha receives record fine from SchalkeGelsenkirchen, Germany (Sports Network) - Schalke have reportedly hit Rafinha with a record $1 million fine after he played for Brazil at the Olympic Games without their permission. The 23-year-old defender angered Schalke officials after spending more than a month in Beijing before returning to Gelsenkirchen having missed the first four games of their season.
"The fine is in accordance with the gravity of the situation," Schalke board
chairman Clemens Tonnies claimed. Meanwhile, reports from Germany claim Rafinha is to take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The court could rule that the Brazilian Football Federation should pay the fine on behalf of the player. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
