Rangers' Cuellar sidelined with calf injury

Glasgow, Scotland (Sports Network) - Rangers boss Walter Smith has confirmed that Carlos Cuellar will miss Wednesday's Champions League clash with FBK Kaunas after picking up a calf injury in the preseason friendly against Raith Rovers.

The Spaniard sustained the problem midway through the first half at Stark's Park.

"Carlos has another calf strain and it's in a different area from where his previous one was a couple of weeks ago," Smith said. "He'll miss Wednesday's game and I'm not sure how quickly he's likely to recover from the problem.

"It's a possibility that he'll be fit for the return match with Kaunas in Lithuania next midweek and we're hopeful he won't be out for long.

"It's a setback to lose Carlos and that's always the case when you have important players who are injured."
