Real Madrid has title within reach

Navarra, Spain (Sports Network) - Real Madrid can finally wrap up the Spanish La Liga on Sunday.

Real Madrid visits Osasuna on Sunday and will win its 31st championship with a win. Real could also wrap up the title before kick off if Villarreal loses to Getafe earlier Sunday.

Real Madrid has a 10-point lead on Villarreal with just four games remaining.

"We have to win as soon as possible because things may get complicated," Real Madrid Sporting Director Emilio Butragueno said. "Osasuna has always been a tough rival for us and they are fighting for survival."

Osasuna is just two points out of the drop zone and will be fighting to remain in La Liga. Osasuna is one of 12 teams still mathematically in danger of being relegated.

"Their survival won't be decided solely in the match against us, but they are in a very delicate situation and they need as many points as they can get," he said. "Their stadium has never been an easy venue for us."

If Real doesn't wrap up the title this week, it hosts Barcelona next week with a chance to secure the championship at home.

"I think winning a title at home is always special because you celebrate with the fans," Butragueno said. "We won some of our league titles away from home and it isn't the same. Everything is more intense when you are surrounded by your supporters."

Villarreal will try to hold on to third when it hosts Getafe, and Barcelona is trying to trim a four-point deficit on the Yellow Subs when it hosts Valencia.

On Saturday, Atletico Madrid will try to secure fourth place and a spot in the Champions League against Recreativo, which is battling to avoid relegation. In the day's other match, Real Zaragoza hopes to move out of the relegation zone when it hosts European hopeful Deportivo.

Also Sunday, Sevilla will try to secure a berth in the UEFA Cup when it hosts Valladolid, Almeria hopes to close in on a UEFA Cup berth against Real Betis, Racing looks to overtake Atletico Madrid for fourth when it hosts Real Murcia, Athletic Bilbao hosts Mallorca and Levante hosts Espanyol.
