Red Bulls sign midfielder Gordon Kljestan

Secaucus, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York signed midfielder Gordon Kljestan, the younger brother of United States national team and Chivas USA midfielder Sacha, to a developmental contract Tuesday.

"Gordon has impressed us since joining our team on trial a few weeks ago. We think that he can make a contribution to our squad and we're excited to have him on board," New York Sporting Director Jeff Agoos said.

Gordon Kljestan, 24, was drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the first round, 10th overall in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. He started six matches for the Galaxy's reserve team and logged 513 minutes.

Prior to signing with New York, Gordon Kljestan had started in two MLS Reserve League matches for the Red Bulls.

To make room for Kljestan, New York waived midfielder Kevin Mesa. Mesa signed with the Red Bulls on March 20. He played 251 minutes over four games for the Red Bulls reserve team this season.
