Report: Wizards acquire top pick from San Jose for Garcia

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - According to a report in the Kansas City Star, Kansas City Wizards defender Nick Garcia is headed to the San Jose Earthquakes for the expansion club's top overall pick in Friday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

"It caught me by surprise," Garcia told the Star.

The Wizards are in dire need of help up top with the impending move of Eddie Johnson, who is reportedly negotiating a contract with Fulham of the English Premier League, and an injury to Davy Arnaud that will force him to miss the start of the season. Perhaps they will fill that need with the top pick in the draft.

Garcia was the second overall pick in the 2000 draft out of Indiana. He was part of the Wizards team that won the MLS Cup in 2000.
