Riise completes Roma switchRome, Italy (Sports Network) - Liverpool have confirmed that Norway international John Arne Riise has left the club to join Italian side Roma on a four-year contract. The 27-year-old will cost Roma around $8 million, with Riise opting to move on after falling down the pecking order at Anfield in recent months.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez preferred Fabio Aurelio at left-back for much of last
season, while Liverpool are also set to complete the signing of Udinese's
Andrea Dossena this summer. Chief executive Rick Parry told the club's official website: "John has been a tremendous servant to Liverpool over many years. "Everybody at Anfield would now like to wish him all the best in his new career in Italy." Riise moved to Merseyside from French side Monaco in the summer of 2001 and went on to score 31 goals in almost 350 appearances in all competitions for the Reds. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
