Scolari denies rumors about Wright-PhillipsLondon England (Sports Network) - Chelsea's new head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has played down talk of winger Shaun Wright-Phillips leaving the club to join Portsmouth. The 26-year-old England international has endured a frustrating time since moving to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City three years ago.
Wright-Phillips has made just 65 starts for the Blues in all competitions, with
a further 59 outings coming as a substitute, while he has scored only ten goals
in a Chelsea shirt. However, Scolari says that the diminutive wideman is still fully committed to last season's Premier League and Champions League runners-up. Speaking from the club's pre-season tour of China, the Brazilian said: "I have not asked him if he wants to go to another team. "He is here and is playing for Chelsea. I don't know anything about him wanting to go to another team. He is training very well every day and he is a very important player for us. "This is the first time I have heard anything about Shaun Wright-Phillips wanting to move. I will have to ask him if he wants a change." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
