Spurs sign Croatian midfielder Modric

London, England (Sports Network) - Tottenham announced that the club has agreed a deal to sign Croatia midfielder Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb.

The 22-year-old was a star performer in the side which qualified for the European championship finals at the expense of England, sparking interest from a number of top clubs across Europe.

A brief statement on the Spurs' official website read: "The club is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for the transfer of midfielder Luka Modric. "Personal terms have been agreed with the player and he will now undertake a medical and apply for a work permit."

Modric had previously been linked with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Juventus and Newcastle and had been reported to have been on Tyneside earlier this week.
