Stoke City signs defender Sonko

Stoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has added Ibrahima Sonko to his defensive options after signing the 27-year-old from Reading for an initial transfer fee of $4 million.

The Senegal international, who has penned a three-year contract with the Potters, is Pulis' seventh signing of the summer.

Chief executive Tony Scholes told City's official website: "We're delighted to make Ibrahima the club's latest signing.

"He's a quality addition to the squad and comes with plenty of Premier League experience having played in the top flight with Reading."

Former Brentford defender Sonko made 136 appearances for Steve Coppell's side during his four-year stay at the Madejski Stadium.
