Sweden's Ibrahimovic won't need surgery

Innsbruck, Austria (Sports Network) - Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is confident that his long-standing knee injury will not require surgery before the new season.

The 26-year-old struggled during Sweden's Euro 2008 campaign in Austria and Switzerland, but did manage to score twice in three games as his side failed to progress from the group stages.

The Inter Milan striker is now resting up ahead of the new Serie A campaign and is upbeat about the chances of being fully fit on his Inter return.

"Now I have to think about resting before I return to action and then we will see what happens," he said. "In my opinion I don't need any operation. The knee is a lot better at the moment and I just need to let it heal for a bit.

"It wasn't easy going into the European Championships with a knee problem, but it didn't stop me scoring two goals."
